I enjoyed setting up my new delicious account, which can be found at http://delicious.com/melissa.stoffer I like that I can setup and retrieve my bookmarks from multiple computers. I also like the security feature in which I can keep some of my bookmarks private. A site like this has use in the classroom because you can direct students to one website to find many other appropriate websites. This is great for research projects, as I can post sites where students can find reliable information. I also think it would be interesting to have students create their own accounts, but it may pose an issue with inappropriate content posted.

Thing #1 Blogging
I'm blogging! How exciting is this? My name is Missy and I am a parapro in the Read180 classroom at Crestwood. I am a certified teacher, and I am eager to learn lots of new techniques to use in my future classroom. I believe that using technology, such as blogging, will allow me to incorporate more interesting and creative student-centered learning. My mind is going in about a million different directions with the opprtunities this technology presents. I think of the assistance it can offer with communicating with parents, the ease of updating class information, and an interesting learning tool for students in an age of technology. Some of my concerns with using blogs as a learning tool include: inappropriate comments, lack of student involvement, and parent concerns. I, however, believe that these concerns can be resolved with careful planning and monitoring. Eventually, I think that this is a great tool that will be exciting for most students, parents and educators.
